A obra é resultado de pesquisa de campo, executada no campus da UESB, durante anos. Apresenta registro e informações morfológicas e comportamentais das espécies de anfíbios que ocorrem na UESB e, portanto, na região. Projeta-se como ferramenta auxiliar aos demais pesquisadores que tenham interesse em realizar estudos em anfíbios, nessa área.
